The company’s software team in Bengaluru believed to develop the forked Android OS and more than 75 people in design team was acquired from Nokia’s R&D in Beijing as per the report.
“The first smartphones with the new OS will be available by the end of this financial
year and they will be affordably priced,” says Micromax’s co-founder Vikas Jain.
Similar to most of its competitors, Micromax also realized that it started shifting the focuses on software. The company believed that it is closer to Indian audiences and also has better understanding with the Indian market

Now, Micromax is enjoying second spot in the Indian handset market
and it also closed the ‘fiscal 2015 with around Rs.11,000 crores of revenue’ and sells more than 3 million phones in a month. Last year Micromax teamed up with Cynaogen and sell phones running on Cyanogen OS under the Yu brand.
